Supplies

Directions

  1. Gather fresh flowers from the plumeria trees that surround you. I’d say get at least 40 blossoms, some will wilt on you/be too beat up to use. Try to only pick the good ones though, waste not want not.
  2. Measure the fishing line to the length you’d like your necklace if you were to hang it from your neck, then multiple x2 and cut. You want to have well enough room to thread.
  3. Thread the fishing line through the eye of needle and tie a tight knot.
  4. Weave the needle through the very center of the Plumeria bud, there should be a lovely little opening just begging you to put something through it.
  5. Thread the flowers one by one, keeping them all in the same direction. You can mix up what color plumeria and make some wicked cool lei patterns, or leave it all monochromatic. Up to you, the artiste.
  6. When you’re done, tie the knots in the end, making sure it fits around your neck first. Then, cut the excess string.
  7. Now go, time to show-off your hand-crafted lei.
