Badass Buenos Aires Workshops and Classes

Private classes in Argentina are a super sweet deal, at least comparable to California rates. So when in Buenos Aires, take advantage and enrich thyself with classes and workshops.

You’ll find classes and workshops all throughout the city. It’s easy to hop in a cab and go between different neighborhoods, or walk if you’re feeling adventurous. We spent 10 days in Buenos Aires, and went to as many classes, restaurants, as we could. Here’s our selection of the best classes and workshops Buenos Aires had to offer us.

Tierra Negra Argentinian Cooking Class

Traditionally, did you know each empanada filling has its own special dough fold?

This week we made our own empanadas and fancy flan thanks to a perfect duo – chef and sommelier couple – founders of Tierra Negra. No doubt you’ll be able to host your own empanada party for friends and family when you return home.

tango class buenos aires

Pepe Rojo – Palermo Tango Studio

Pepe Rojo is the director of Palermo Tango Studio and tango maestro. He performs in milongas (tango houses) in Buenos Aires, while also giving tango lessons out of his boutique studio. The class starts with a brief introduction to the history of tango, where you will learn things Google can’t tell you. Big kudos for teaching our two left-feet the steps of the tango dance. We anticipate taking our beginner skills to the next level at one of the open milongas, and becoming the best dancing gringos on the block.

Pain et Vin Wine Tasting

Pain et Vin is a Bakery and Wine Bar run by Eleonora, an Argentine sommelier, and Ohad, an Israeli chef. As a couple, they share the love for what they do everyday and transmit it passionately at the tastings held at Pain et Vin.

They use a Coravin to pour all the wine — a gadget that pokes a very small hole through the cork, keeping the wine safe from oxidation and allowing the cork to reseal after you’re done pouring. It’s pretty cool, and we’d buy one if we had our own collection of fancy wines. If desired, your wine tasting is accompanied by a traditional sample of Argentine cheese and hand-made, freshly baked breads.

Our sommelier did a fantastic job of describing each wine we tasted. She questions about the notes and smells we sensed along the way. You can skip a trip to Mendoza and Salta with a tasting at Pain et Vin!

yoga class buenos aires

Bikram Yoga Buenos Aires

After two weeks of getting your gourmet eating on, this class will be a well-deserved detox for you body. I usually am fearful of Bikram studios being stinky. However, this studio is crystal clean and smelled actually delightful. For me, it was enlightening to practice Bikram with a Spanish-speaking instructor. The poses are identical to every other studio we’ve practiced in.

Sure, I’m aware of Bikram Choudhury’s scandals, but still think what he created is one of the best ways to detox your bod. Maybe the whole practice just needs a re-brand.

Valletierra

There’s a variety of classes you can take at Valletierra, such as Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Kundalini, and even Ti Chi. Located in Palermo Soho District of Buenos Aires right next to a lovely outdoor park called Plaza Armenia.

The studio is well-lit with the clean mats and wood floor. Hit up the café outside for a post-yoga “tarta de limón” (lemon tart) and maté tea.
